Conciencia Femenil
Conciencia Femenil is a Chicana feminist organization formed in 2009 to address the cycle of zero, or chronic erasure, of Chicanas on the California State University, Long Beach campus. Conciencia Femenil follows in the footsteps of thei rforemothers Las Hijas de Cuauhtemoc who in the early 1970s established Chicana feminist written thought, standing up valiantly for the rights of mujeres in a Chicano Movement that though inspiring, was strongly machista and exclusionary.
Conciencia Femenil is currently undertaking the task of cementing history and establishing the present. It is our goal that future generations of Chicanas and their allies will no longer have to ask the basic questions about Chicana history that in a validating environment would be long-answered. We hope to aid ourselves and our companeras in the acquisition of an informed and empowered identity, para que nunca mas nos vuelvan a borrar.
